This Buck was shot by Robert Illig
in 2006, Thurston County Nebraska.
The morning this buck was shot the fog think, so we hunted a few fields early that morning and then moved to a field that was protected from wind no roads close thinking the deer might still be out there, also my brother Craig had seen a big buck the day before there so we knew one was around the area somewhere. I went to cap the end of the field and saw a few deer, could only see so far when I moved up closer I saw a big buck chasing does out in the field across the valley from me. It was clod, so I couldn't hold still standing so I took the army man shooting position, still was moving bad so took a few real deep breaths and then squeezed off the shot. He jumped then ran towards me into the valley into a grove of trees.. I could see all sides of it from my vantage point on top of the hill. He never came out.. I herd crashing and gurgling.... I bet my brother my life he was in there. I was right, it was a perfect heart shot from 348 yards. This isn't the biggest buck of the yr but I'm am the proudest of this one because of the shot.
