This Big Doe was shot by Robert Illig

on the Macy Indian Reservation in the Big Slou

I shot this big does off the drive by road, she came out of the woods and tried to run across... I did let about 20 does cross because I thought they were all too small, then 5 big does came out 4 went back in. She ran out and stopped about 195 yards then started a slow trot away from me when I shot. I thought I hit her with the first shot, but seen deer still running so I shot again and nothing then I made a quick count and saw that one deer was missing. So Craig got the Blazer and we moved out to find her, I looked while he went back for the car, so when he got there I had already looked for her for about 20 minutes. I found nothing, so he went off to look for some pheasants while I wandered about. I was sure I must of missed and so I put my gun away and after drinking a coke I thought maybe she was father away than I first thought so I moved out there and saw a doe peek up out of the grass alive and looking at me, I had hit her and broke her back, but had no gun so I yelled at Craig, he ran over and gave me his shotgun and I moved in for the kill and put her away. A few days before I saw over 50 deer cross right here so I was sure I could pick up a doe easily there. In the picture I shot from where the orange dot is.
